Worksop’s Multiplex Cinema to Open in March 2012

Bassetlaw residents can look forward to catching the latest blockbusters at the brand new Savoy Cinema on Bridge Street, Worksop as soon as March 2012.

Boasting the very latest in digital projection, 3D technology and Dolby 7.1 surround sound across six screens, the new cinema will breathe life into Worksop town centre for residents and traders whilst providing a state-of-the-art entertainment hub for the local community.

Costing an impressive £3 million to build, the multiplex will seat more than 900 people in spacious, stadium seated auditoriums.

Free parking will be available close to the cinema at both Town Hall and Newgate East car parks for a maximum of four hours, giving visitors the chance to grab a bite to eat or indulge in some retail therapy before enjoying the latest blockbuster.

There are disabled access parking spaces specifically for blue badge holders and the cinema has disabled viewing positions in optimum locations across each of its six screens.

The construction phase of the development has created nearly 200 jobs locally and a further 25 positions will be filled when the cinema launches in March.

Managing Director for Savoy Cinemas, James Collington, said: “As Bassetlaw’s first fully digital multiplex cinema this has been a particularly exciting project and we look forward to becoming an all-inclusive entertainment hub for the Bassetlaw community to enjoy for many years to come.”
